8 Bridges Workshop + Public Media
8 Bridges Workshop helps public media organizations with strategy, organizational planning, program development and evaluation, desk and field research, and editorial projects.
8 Bridges is leading the evaluation process for WAMU’s national initiative, Guns&America. The project places 10 Audio Fellows in public radio stations across the US to cover guns, gun culture, gun policy, gun rights, and gun violence in the context of each community. Audion Fellows are a diverse group of new talent for public radio who will participate in advanced training and collaborate via a core editorial team based in WAMU’s Washington newsroom. 8 Bridges is working with lead collaborator Tracie Powell on this project.
We created an Instrument Drive Guide for civic organizations interested in developing musical instrument drives in their local communities based on lessons learned from WQXR’s ambitious drive in New York City.
Working with Dot Connector Studio, we conducted desk research, wrote blog posts, and interviewed experts on the global trends most likely to impact the Wikimedia Foundation's long-term strategic prospects and plans. Read our work on the Wikimedia strategy website (scroll to "Foundation Research Into Major Trends), and read the final report here.
Wyncote commissioned our research into digital innovation in legacy cultural institutions. We created Like, Link, Share: How cultural institutions are embracing digital technology, featuring 40 legacy cultural institutions that were nominated by peers as innovative leaders in technology. The report and its accompanying website summarize key themes and lessons learned, profile eight organizations in depth and provide background on 32 others.
